There’s no real need to make pastiche good/bad movies when bad movies like The Ninja Squad are so, so good. Everything about it is perfect – the dubbing so inept, the splicing-in of a completely different movie with lame ninja footage so inept, the specially-shot fight scenes so inept, the devil-may-care attitude to casting so inept – it’s like a precious bad movie jewel lovingly encased in a delicate celluloid shell.
While it doesn’t quite reach the breathtaking heights of Ninja Terminator, The Ninja Squad is definitely one of the Godfrey Ho cannon of cut ‘n’ paste ninja vehicles NOT to skip (admittedly this is not exactly true of all of them).
An easy four out of five stars, and a strong recommend.
